Nice to meet you

ABOUT ME

Kelly Allanson‘s nomadic lifestyle has greatly influenced her designs and experiences. Nature plays a significant role in her work and is frequently reflected in her designs. She chooses to integrate the textures and patterns she has discovered in daily life into her personal creations, whether it's from the soft curves of nature or the sharp lines of a city.

During her childhood, she spent summers exploring small bays along the BC coast by sailboat and traversing trails on foot. Adulthood led her across many miles and through many cities in North America and Europe. It is hard to say which felt most like home, but each etched out a special spot in her heart.

Kelly's primary focus is on creating individual pieces for those seeking the perfect special something—a remake of a family ring, a new milestone in one's life, or a cherished remembrance. She often uses recycled metals and stones, re-fabricating them from scratch and giving them new life for her clients. But fresh designs and materials are always welcome. Kelly loves spending time creating the perfect piece with her clients. Ensuring they get precisely what they are looking for in a piece that will last with them over time.

My methods

Gemstone Setting

Gemstone setting is an essential craft in jewelry design, where expert artisans carefully secure gems into metal settings. This intricate method not only highlights the gem's allure but also guarantees its durability.

Casting

Jewelry casting is an intricate process that results in a more natural appearance by using carved waxes or designs printed in 3D, which are then transformed into a mold for molten metal to be poured into. This method enhances detail, allows for smoother shapes, and results in a resilient, solid structure that endures over time.

Custom Fabrication

Custom fabrication is the essential method of transforming an idea into a completed item. Techniques such as alloying, milling, soldering, building, and polishing all collaborate to breathe life into a piece of jewelry.

Creation

The process of designing jewelry is a continuous journey that takes concepts and shapes them into a physical artwork, beginning with the development of ideas and advancing through drawings and digital renderings, enabling clients to visualize their jewelry as it is crafted.

Lapidary

The method of shaping a gemstone or sentimental rock involves various processes of grinding and polishing. Each type of material presents its own unique challenges and advantages. But in the end, it can lend itself to a very customized piece of jewelry for the wearer.
